Samsung delay restarting the sale of its Galaxy Note 7

Samsung has said it will delay restarting the sale of its Galaxy Note 7 phone in South Korea, as the firm needs more time for the global recall of the device.
The South Korean tech giant was forced to recall some 2.5 million devices globally due to overheating batteries.
Dozens of devices were reported to have caught fire.
The phone was to be back on the shelf on 28 September but is now expected to be available 1 October at the earliest.
On 2 September Samsung had said it would stop selling the phones and offered to replace the ones already sold. The firm also urged people to stop using the device.

To all you guys who are wondering when the Note 7 will be re-released after the exploding battery issue, well here you are...

I am not holding my breath though.

iPhone5 purple haze.

There have been a number of complaints logged on the Apple website by disgruntled users. The issue (which I have managed to re-create) is when a photo is taken next to a bright light illuminating on a corner of the lens a purple ghostly haze appears on the photo where the glare of the light is shining through the lens. (On my phone the purple haze is at it’s worst when the light source is on the top right of the phone when holding the phone in landscape) I find it hilarious, just as with the antennagate issue, Apple have said that if you hold your phone correctly and/or cup the lens with you hand then the glare is not as bad. They also added that this issue is not unique to the iPhone5 but to all other phones (I am assuming they mean iPhones). I have tested my iPhone4 taking a photo at the exact same angle to the sun and there was no purple haze... I repeated this with my SGS 2 and like the iPhone4 there was no purple haze. My personal view is that this haze is caused by the crystal structure of the sapphire lens cover that Apple chose to use on the iPhone5. Let me know what you think below.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2

The original Galaxy Note was a massive hit. Many were not convinced by the its size and the fact that it used stylus, despite all this the Note has been incredibly successful. Well, Samsung has gone and increased the size of the follow-up - the display has increased from 5.3 inches to a whopping 5.55 inches. There has been no confirmed price or release date as yet but considering the guts of this whopping phone I expect it to be quite pricy The display is a HD Super AMOLED display with an aspect ration 16:9 is crisp and gorgeous. It is big enough to watch full HD films without the annoying black bars on the top and bottom of the screen... web surfing is a dream as you have masses of room. The shear size of this phone will mean that you may look pretty silly speaking on it, but this is easily resolved with a Bluetooth head set! You may also need to invest in a pair of trousers with massive pockets. The only thing that can be said about the software and stylus is that they are excellent. -- The Note 2 will be running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box (the latest version of Android) Under the bonnet the Note 2 contains a 1.6GHz quad-core CPU and 2GB of RAM, which in terms of Android updates, this should future proof the Samsung Galaxy Note for at least a couple of years! In terms of storage, the Note 2 comes with either 16GB or 32GB and it also includes an SD slot to upgrade the memory by a further 32GB. The Note 2 comes with a 3100mAh battery. Which should be massive... but with the massive screen coupled with the quad-core CPU let's hope it lasts for at least a day. Let me know if you think it is too big for you?

Vodafone Desire customers get screwed

Vodafone sent out a "branding update" called 2.1-update 1 this morning; Vodafone Desire owners all thought that they were receiving Google’s latest OS 2.2 Froyo. And have been up in arms as the Vodafone UK forum is alight with posts.

Vodafone explained this week that: "We are working with HTC and Google to push the new 2.2 Android firmware out to Vodafone HTC Desire customers as soon as possible.
"We'll update customers when we have a confirmed release date."

After having to flash my Vodafone branded N95 8GB and my Orange branded Omnia i8910, I swore that would never buy another contract phone again. I currently have a sim free Desire running 2.2 Froyo, and it’s a dream. For all you iPhone fan-boys bigging up the iPhone 4, I have 3 words for you – pot, kettle, black… Vodafone is trying to emulate exactly what Apple is doing and have been doing for the last 3 years - with their super proprietary iPhone. The funny thing is that fan-boys are oblivious to this fact .LOL.
